MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Completion of bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, management, or a social services related field, plus two (2) years’ experience in a public service agency with knowledge of the public children services program, policies and procedures, and three (3) years of Supervisory experience or an equivalent, of education, training and/or experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); ascends and/or descends stairs; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.
In cases of emergency, unpredictable situations, and/or department needs, required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects heavier than DOL strength ratings recommend.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
45% Administers agency social service programs that provide direct services to clients. Designs, develops and analyzes Agency programs, and procedures for social service programs that provide direct services to Agency clients; maintains continuous program standard of communication, assessment, and evaluation of program performance for completion and accountability and recommends changes in policies and procedures to Director; monitors and documents program operation and compliance with federal, state and local regulations; ensures the maintenance of
records and reports; researches, compiles and analyzes data for informational and decision making purposes and formulating recommendations; receives and responds to complaints from officials, citizens and clients. Monitors and administers foster care and adoption programs; maintains foster care and adoption policies.
25% Provides technical assistance and direction to professional staff involved in implementing direct service activities and coordinating agency programs; training and staff development programs and monitors ongoing training requirements; conducts staff meetings and trainings; supervises professional staff to ensure that daily work activities are consistent with Department goals; assigns and reviews work assignments, reviews timesheets and submits to payroll department; approves and reviews home studies, case plans, SARS, case reviews, etc., any documents regarding CP cases or cases on FC Recruiters caseload; conducts employee evaluations, recommends and authorizes leave requests, counsels and recommends disciplinary action, may address employee grievances; recruits,
interviews and recommends employee selection to the Director.
20% Identifies community needs and resources and develops recommendations to respond; stays current with children services rules, trends and legislative efforts; may interact with government and professional organizations to advocate legislative and policy changes; coordinates agency programs and activities with other social service and community agencies; maintains a positive working relationship with internal and external partners and the public; prepares talks and speeches for community groups, schools and professional agencies; maintains close working relationships with local civic leaders, and community organizations to enhance services to children; may serve on
committees of the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and professional associations to promote the welfare and families and children of Auglaize County. Responsible for Child Protection Oversight and Evaluation (CPOE) and foster care review and compliance. Is on an “on call” supervisor schedule for comprehensive emergency services.
5% Attends training sessions and read technical manuals, and related literature to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current developments in the social services field and best practices child protection; attends meetings and represents the department at state and local conferences and seminars. Attends required meetings and training and may serve on committees as needed.
Maintains required licensures, certification, and continuing education requirements, if any.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
