PCSAO responds to Governor's address
Today, PCSAO thanked Governor Mike DeWine for proposals outlined in his first State of the State Address to improve Ohio’s children services system.
The following statements may be attributed to Angela Sausser, executive director of the Public Children Services Association of Ohio:
“In his campaign for governor, Mike DeWine promised to stand up for abused and neglected kids by improving the children services system. Today he delivered on that promise. While we are eager to see the specific investments that will be in his proposed budget, our membership of county children services agency leaders is grateful to Governor DeWine for standing up for children and families by proposing to expand Ohio START, increase the state’s overall investment, combat the ongoing drug epidemic, recruit more foster parents, and better support kin caregivers.
“We appreciate that the Governor made a point to thank county children services agency staff for their hard work every day. The appointment of a county leader like Kristi Burre as the Governor’s director of child welfare transformation signals that children services will be a priority in this Administration.
“Not only do we appreciate Governor DeWine’s support for today’s system in crisis, but we praise his foresight in investing in the children services system of tomorrow. Safe, nurtured children and stable families make for productive taxpaying citizens. The Governor’s leadership, with the support of his Administration, will afford Ohio’s vulnerable children and families the quality services that will strengthen our state across the board.”
