Hancock County Job and Family Services provides our clients with help for today and hope for tomorrow. The primary focus of protective services is safety for the child. To meet this objective, the emphasis is on improving parenting skills, mental health and substance abuse counseling, domestic violence services, child development, and basic living skills such as housing, finances, and transportation.

Position:  Social Service Supervisor 1

Post Date: July 31, 2024 – August 16, 2024, or until filled

JOB DUTIES:

·         Manage and supervise Case Workers in the Children Protective Services Unit.

·         Assigns and monitors workloads.

·         Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations governing child abuse/neglect, including confidentiality.

·         Complies with state monitoring and corrective actions.

·         Cooperates with the courts, prosecutors, and other professional agencies and/or individuals in the development of plans and services required.

·         Presents testimony at hearings and/or in court when required.

Starting Wage: $ 24.82/hour

Minimum Qualifications

·         Two years’ experience as a Social Services Worker 2, 30132.

·         Or completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development technology, education or related field.

Also requires two years’ experience in a position similar to a Social Services Worker 2, 30132.

·         Or two courses in adult psychology one of which must be in the area of gerontology or twelve months experience, two courses or twelve months experience in child psychology, two courses in social welfare or other sociology related topic or twelve months experience, two course or twelve months experience in counseling, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, one course or six months experience in domestic violence, and one course or six months experience in courtroom procedures.

Also requires two years’ experience in a position similar to a Social Services Worker 2, 30132.

Or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
