Position Overview:
The purpose of the Social Services Worker 2 position is to investigate claims of abuse and neglect of children and/or older adults and/or maintain a caseload of children/families who have previously been determined to require the protective assistance services of the agency as deemed appropriate . In addition, this position prepares cases for court, participates in legal action to establish legal guardianship in cases related to older adults, meets procedural deadlines governing the management of social services cases set by the State of Ohio and ensures this documentation is complete.

Minimum qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field is required. You must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and employment reference check. You must also have a clean driving record and valid Driver’s License.
Essential Job Functions:
· Conducts investigations into alleged child abuse/neglect complaints, in and out of home settings.
· Conducts interviews with alleged perpetrators, parents, children, and other appropriate persons.
· Collects information, takes photographs of abused children and home environment.
· Talks to individuals, makes collateral contacts, gathers and documents information in case records that support disposition of case.
· Responsible for placement services for children in custody, including preparing children for placement in foster home, residential treatment, or adoption.
· Completes required documentation pertaining to placement.
· Correctly documents case activities in SACWIS and Traverse.
· Works with the foster/adoptive parent and child.
· Transports foster child as needed.
· Provides protective services and maintains caseload of children/families who have previously been determined to require the assistance of the services of the Agency (i.e., ongoing customers).
· Formulates case plan using treatment goals and objectives.
· Works with law enforcement, medical personnel, and within the school system.
· Writes and completes reports and documentation necessary (e.g., investigative reports, case plans, court documents, reports to prosecutors, and correspondence).
· Maintains correct and up-to-date case files.
· Testifies in court as needed.
· Uploads documents received via email into Traverse and effectively utilizes Traverse Mobile.
· Performs certification/recertification of foster and adoptive homes and approval of relative home placements.
· Completes home studies and maintains home study case files.
· Completes interviews, home studies, background checks, and other requirements for approval of homes to be used for placements.
· Maintains correct and up-to-date files.
· Conducts investigations of claims of abuse/neglect of older adults and follows through with investigation, including court intervention where necessary.
· Makes necessary referrals to other agencies for services.
· Responsible for on-call duties.
· Answers routine phone calls from the public.
· Builds rapport with school personnel, law enforcement officials, social services agencies, and the court system.
· Attends staff meetings, trainings, and seminars as requested/required.
· Conducts speaking engagements/trainings.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
· Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, co-workers, and the public.
