PCSAO Rules Review Committee takes off
We are pleased to announce that PCSAO has re-formed the Rules Review Committee as of June 2015. The purpose of the committee is to review and impact new and revised rules developed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) as a result of new legislation, new federal regulations, or the ongoing process of rule review. As much as possible, we will focus on reviewing and providing input during the early stages of the process (pre-clearance and clearance), rather than the later stages.
Guiding principles for the work of the committee include:
- The committee will work closely with ODJFS policy staff to ensure early dialogue and maximum opportunity for input and impact;
- Rules should be minimal, according to state and federal mandates;
- Rules should support best practice and county flexibility; and
- Rules should be clear, with little or no need for interpretation.
Richard (Rick) Tvaroch, QI supervisor at Trumbull County Children Services, has agreed to serve as chair of the committee. Rick brings a long history of working in child protective services and a deep appreciation for how rules can support practice and vice versa. Thank you, Rick, for stepping forward to provide leadership and guidance for the committee!
Fifteen members representing 12 county PCSAs have already joined the committee. We are looking for one or two additional members – ideally from small counties – to ensure that views from a variety of types of PCSAs are represented in this work.
