Bailey-Evans named Director of the Year by OJFSDA
At a holiday banquet today, the Ohio Job and Family Services Directors Association named Susan Bailey-Evans Director of the Year.
Bailey-Evans serves as director of Champaign County Job and Family Services and, until last month, at the same time served as director of Logan County Job and Family Services. Commissioners from both counties were on hand to praise Bailey-Evans’ professionalism, resourcefulness and stability. Her dual role is unusual given that the counties had no intention to consolidate. Logan County officials spoke of the staff and community’s doubts that an “outsider” could successfully oversee the agency during a time of transition and uncertainty, but they said that Bailey-Evans’ calm demeanor, compassion for families and children, and no-nonsense approach quickly earned her their respect.
Fellow directors also lauded Bailey-Evans for her long tenure and expert leadership. She has served in leadership roles within OJFSDA; she currently serves as a trustee on PCSAO’s board and is completing a term as president of the Southwest District. The award was presented by incoming OJFSDA President Beth Rubin (pictured, left).
