Statehouse Day gives members one-on-one time with legislators

County children services agency leaders gathered in Columbus today for an opportunity to discuss the opiate epidemic, multi-system youth, and more with legislators at Statehouse Day.

PCSAO joined with sister associations Ohio Job and Family Services Directors’ Association and Ohio Child Support Enforcement Agency Directors’ Association for the first tri-association Statehouse Day for county human services. More than a hundred meetings with legislators or aides were scheduled throughout the day.

In addition to the advocacy focus on critical child support enforcement changes, PCSAO asked members to describe the toll that Ohio’s opiate epidemic is taking on children and families. Members also supported the ongoing work of the Joint Legislative Committee on Multi-System Youth, which is examining the challenges of children served by child protection plus mental health, developmental disabilities, and/or juvenile justice.
