HB 79, which
was signed by the Governor on December 29, 2006 (passed by the 126th
General Assembly) amends ORC 5153.176 regarding the reporting of
abuse, neglect and emotional maltreatment by educators and goes into
effect March 29, 2007.
Through an
engaged and proactive process, PCSAO (through the Legislative Cmte, its
chair/PCSA Director, a County prosecuting attorney, an agency staff
attorney) and ODE worked cooperatively on this bill to facilitate
broader sharing of information between PCSAs and ODE to keep children
safe from further abuse, neglect and maltreatment by educators.
