HB 630
|
Introduced to House: July 7, 2006 This bill requires the Department of Education, rather than the juvenile court, to determine the school district responsible for paying the cost of educating a child placed by the court in the custody of a government agency or a person other than the child's parent. PCSAO’s Legislative Committee is reviewing and analyzing the bill during summer recess and looks forward to working with the sponsor to ensure children in custody are enrolled in school without delay. Some PCSAs experience difficulty enrolling children in custody into school, which is why we are interested in analyzing the impact of switching the decision-making authority from Juvenile Courts to the Department of Education as proposed in HB 630.
