Gayle Channing Tenenbaum
Director of Policy and Governmental
Affairs:
Gayle served as executive assistant of human services for Governor
Richard Celeste. In that capacity she was responsible for
coordinating the cabinet departments of human services, mental
health, mental retardation, youth services, health, and education.
Prior to that, she was the director of several human services
organizations in Cuyahoga County. She began her career as a
caseworker in Hamilton County. She holds a master’s degree in social
work from the Ohio State University.. Gayle has extensive experience
in the areas of public policy development and implementation, group
facilitation, planning, and development, as well as media and public
relations. Recently she served as a member of the Strickland
Transition Team focusing on health and human services policy. She is
an adjunct professor, teaching public policy, at the Ohio State
University College of Social Work., Child Policy at the Schubert
Center at Case Western University and Senior Policy Fellow at the
Voinovich School at Ohio University. She recently received the
Administration on Children, Youth and Families Commissioner’s Award to
an individual in each state for their exceptional contribution for
prevention child abuse.
