Gregory
R. Kapcar
Assistant Legislative Director
Greg
Kapcar is a Licensed Social Worker and holds a Master’s degree in
Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit
Management from Cleveland State University. His professional
experience includes direct service work with children and families,
marketing and public relations, legislative advocacy and policy
development.
Throughout his career, Greg has taught child abuse prevention
classes; helped severely mentally disabled adults maintain housing,
food, medication and other essentials; worked with youth struggling
to improve their relationships with family members, while staying in
school and staying out of the juvenile court system; assisted
prospective foster and adoptive parents in navigating the
certification approval process in order to provide safe, stable
family living for abused/neglected children; and facilitated access
to intensive treatment services for children with severe behavioral
and mental health needs.
In 2005,
Greg joined the PCSAO team as assistant legislative director serving
as the lead staff member coordinating participation of agency
directors, supervisors, staff attorneys and other partners on the
PCSAO Legislative Committee, which works closely with policy makers
on proactive policy development and monitors state legislation for
its impact on children, families, and the field of child
protection. Greg works closely with others at PCSAO on Budget
Advocacy and providing input into the administrative rule making
process. He is project manager for PCSAO Factbook, successfully
publishing the 8th edition and gearing up for the 9th edition due
out in December 2008.
Greg and
his wife Sally, a paralegal at a downtown Columbus law firm, married
in 1993 and live on the west side of Columbus with their aging, but
forever young at heart Golden Retriever, Sasha – a certified therapy
dog.
