Michelle Jordan, MSW/PhD Student
School of Social Work, OSU

Michelle is currently a combined MSW/PhD student in Social Work at The Ohio State University.  She holds a B.A. in English from Ohio State and a M.A. in Cultural Studies from Carnegie Mellon University. She is very excited to begin her field placement here at PCSAO!  Michelle's research interests include social welfare policy, reproductive health/rights, and youth development.  For the past three years she has worked in Youth and Family Services at a local settlement house, the Godman Guild Association. As the academic specialist for an elementary after-school program and a mentor for teen employment program, she gained valuable experience in youth development and youth advocacy.  In addition, Michelle "dug in" as the coordinator for Weinland Park Community Garden, providing gardening space, educational opportunities, and organic produce to local families.  Prior to that, Michelle was an Intern Supervisor with Grow Pittsburgh, a dynamic youth development program employing at-risk teens in urban farms in Pittsburgh, PA.  In her spare time, Michelle enjoys taking photos, making pottery, baking (and eating), and writing her state representatives! Michelle will be with us thru May.
